There is nothing quite like having your very own website. Not only can you say anything you want to say (which has been proven again and again by the sites of various hate groups). You can also sell your own products, and put up ads that can bring in all kinds of revenue for you. A lot of people have made a lot of money through having websites. And almost every one of them eventually graduated away from having a free site, such as through blogspot or freewebs to developing their own by writing code with NotePad and uploading files via FTP programs like FileZilla. While these are fine sites with good service, they are not necessarily the best solutions for you once you have your own domain name, which is a common practice for those whose websites are beginning to take off (and for those who are self confident enough to be pretty sure that their sites are going to succeed).
When you get your own .com, .net or .biz, you have arrived in a small way. While it is no guarantee of success by any means, it can be a real confidence booster to know that your site is in the same league (perception wise, at least) as the likes of Coca Cola’s, Walmart’s or Eli Lilly’s websites are. While you are probably not quite as big of an operation as those behemoths are, at least your site can be as professional as their sites are. And with the templates and help out there today, you do not have to understand programming and use tools like Putty or have to work remotely with free programs like Tight VNC. You can understand only the basics and get by.
The thing about getting your own domain name is that you do not need to bundle it up with web hosting service. All you have to do is buy the domain name, and then you can get your web hosting service from wherever you want. In a lot of cases, the best deal on one of those two will be coupled with an over-priced offering on the other. These companies do have to make their money somewhere, after all. Just make sure that it is not off of playing a trick on you.
